FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (CMANS) announces the arrest of several individuals responsible for trafficking methamphetamine in Cherokee County. The arrests are the results of a several month long investigation of a trafficking organization which stretched from Georgia to California. The CMANS agents were joined by agents of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Roswell Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration in this intensive investigation. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit provided support and assistance in the investigation.
On Wednesdays, October 27th, Agents arrested Juan Torres in connection with a search warrant executed at 216 Potomac Court in Woodstock. Juan was charged with Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine and Obstruction of Government Property. On October 28th, Agents arrested Vicente Perez Toscano of Alpharetta and Alfredo Olea. Toscano was charged with Trafficking Methaphetamine and Sale of Methamphetamine. Olea was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine. Another unidentified individual was arrested at the scene, but was turned over to another law enforcement agency on outstanding charges not related to this investigation. Agents seized about eight and a half pounds of crystal methamphetamine on October 28th, along with the seizure of several automobiles and cash.
Later on October 28th, CMANS agents located a stash of about 4 ounces of methamphetamine at a residence located at 365 Chief Vann Dr. Alpharetta in the Freehome community. The home had been rented by an individual identified as Jose Ambriz. Ambriz was not at the residence at the time, and is currently wanted for questioning. It is unclear at this time if the incidents are connected.
CMANS Agents say that other charges will be coming out of both these investigations, as other individuals have been identified to have been supporting this major operation. Agents plan to consult with the District Attorney’s Office and the Internal Revenue Service to determine what additional charges may be forthcoming.
The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad is a joint task force working in Cherokee County to investigate drug related violations. Participating agencies include the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the Canton Police Department, the Woodstock Police Department, the Holly Springs Police Department, the Ball Ground Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, the Cherokee County BOE Police, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia State Patrol.
