The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (CMANS) announces the arrest of three individuals involved in passing forged prescriptions in Cherokee, Cobb, Bartow and DeKalb Counties.
David Carl Meador, 38 YOA of Acworth, Georgia, was arrested on August 3, 2010, and charged with six (6) counts of Forgery in the First Degree, two (2) counts of Forgery in the Second Degree, four (4) counts of Fraudulently Obtaining Controlled Substances, two (2) counts of Obtaining or Attempting to Obtain Regulated Drugs, and one (1) count of Possession of a Schedule II Drug.
Javis Manuel Castillo, 28 YOA of Kennesaw, Georgia, was arrested on August 3, 2010, and charged with Forgery in the First Degree, two (2) counts of Fraudulently Obtaining Controlled Substances, two (2) counts of Obtaining or Attempting to Obtain Regulated Drugs, and one (1) count of Possession of a Schedule II Drug.
Christopher Ross Samuels, 43 YOA of Marietta, Georgia, was arrested on August 4, 2010, and charged with seven (7) counts of Forgery in the First Degree, two (2) counts of Forgery in the Second Degree, two (2) counts of Fraudulently Obtaining Controlled Substances, and six (6) counts of Obtaining or Attempting to Obtain Regulated Drugs.
CMANS Agents discovered forged prescriptions that had been passed in Cherokee County. While doing follow-up investigation, agents were able to arrest Meador and Castillo as they attempted to pass a forged prescription. Evidence recovered after the arrest of Meador and Castillo lead agents to the Marietta home of Samuels. CMANS Agents were assisted by the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Fraud Squad who joined CMANS in serving a search warrant on Samuels residence in Cobb County. Agents uncovered computers, paper, and other items used to forge prescriptions, along with a list of DEA numbers used by medical professionals to submit legitimate prescriptions. All these items were seized for later use in court, and based on the CMANS investigation all these individuals may face additional charges in Bartow, Cobb and DeKalb Counties.
The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad is a joint task force working in Cherokee County to investigate drug related violations. Participating agencies include the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the Canton Police Department, the Woodstock Police Department, the Holly Springs Police Department, the Ball Ground Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, the Cherokee County BOE Police, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia State Patrol.
