On Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at about 10 PM agents of the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (CMANS) and Cherokee County Deputies arrested Terry Raymond Spriggs at a residence in Woodstock, Georgia. Spriggs was wanted for outstanding warrants from Cherokee County for Possession of Methamphetamine (2 counts) Possession of Cocaine, Violation of Terms of Probation (2 counts). Agents also charged Spriggs with Theft by Receiving a stolen motorcycle.
Agents had seen Spriggs at a family member’s residence on May 19, and Spriggs had fled from CMANS agents and Canton Police Officers. Spriggs ultimately escaped by diving into the Etowah River.
CMANS Agents were able to follow Spriggs to the Woodstock residence, and set up a perimeter while they waited on uniformed officers to assist in the arrest. Spriggs had concealed himself in the Woodstock residence which was occupied by a family with three children. Agents and Deputies were able to get the family safely out of the home and then search the residence. Spriggs was discovered hiding in a clothes closet covered with a blanket.
Spriggs was transported to the Cherokee Adult Detention Center in Canton.
The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad is a joint task force working in Cherokee County to investigate drug related violations. Participating agencies include the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, the Canton Police Department, the Woodstock Police Department, the Holly Springs Police Department, the Ball Ground Police Department, the Cherokee County Marshal’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia State Patrol.
